Ins & Outs for 2024

Ins & Outs for 2024

| Kyndra Bailey
Here's what's IN & OUT for me as we head into 2024! Read the full post to here a few thoughts behind each one. :)

As a girlie on the internet, there have been a lot of things in the social media trend cycle that I’ve loved (and plenty of things that I haven’t). That said, the IN/OUT trend that is currently taking over my fyp has to be my favorite thing I’ve seen in a while – so much so that it’s making me dust the cobwebs off of my blog right before the new year.

If you’re not sure what I mean by “IN/OUT Trend,” it’s pretty simple! Everyone is just posting things that are “in” for them in 2024 (things they hope to do/see more of) and “out” (things they want to leave behind; “that is soooo last year.”)

I think this is such a fun take on setting new year’s goals – they aren’t hard-set goals per say, but some fun general guidance about how you want to live your life as the year goes on. As someone who really struggles with the pressure of new year’s, this is such a fun way to set goals but also not!

So without further ado, here’s my personal in/out list for 2024!

IN: lil treat tuesday

“Lil treat tuesday” is my weekly tradition of treating myself to a coffee from my favorite coffee shop once a week. It’s a tradition I look forward to, and this year, I’m hoping to romanticize it even more by spending lil treat tuesday at the coffee shop doing something creative – drawing, blogging, etc.

OUT: drinking more than 1-2 cups of coffee a day

This is pretty simple. Ya girl has GOT to decrease her caffeine in take. That 3rd or 4th cup of coffee has never done me any good and I need to stop pretending like one day it will.

IN: “letting them”

Let them cringe. Let them judge you for doing the things that they’re too scared to try. Let them wonder where you find the audacity to not give one single sh*t about what anyone else thinks. & you can just keep on truckin'!! “Let them” is my motto for the year. 🙂

OUT: mindless scrolling/excessive screen time

I’ll be working on this a lot this year and even purchased a dedicated KYBi-Phone to help me! (Yes, my solution to less screen time is more screens. You can see more about the reasoning here!)

IN: being bad at new things

I’ll need to replace all my screen time with somethingggg: how about new skills? Embroidery, crochet, photo journaling, and bread making are all top of mind. I want to try a bunch of new things this year and be okay with the imperfection of it all. Everyone starts somewhere!

OUT: finishing bad books

Speaking of hobbies, I’m obviously taking reading with me into the new year, but the one thing I’m leaving behind? Finishing bad books. There are SO many good books out there. Why do I feel the need to prove myself by finishing the bad ones? In 2024, I’m embracing “DNF.”

IN: washing our water bottles

…no comment. (Except that hot girls wash their water bottles!)

OUT: skipping meals

If I had to guess, I would say I skipped lunch more times than I ate it this past year – YIKES. My body needs nourishment. The lil task I’m working on can wait. No more iced coffee for lunch pls!!

IN: clear and healthy boundaries

And the last “in” for 2024 is timeless. Setting clear and healthy boundaries AND respecting others’ boundaries is SO IN. I’m working on my boundaries a lot this year (just like every year lol) and you should too. Trust me, it’s good for ya!

OUT: being mean to strangers on the internet

I don’t know what it was about this year, but TikTok and my emails had way more mean comments/messages than years’ past. In the grand scheme of things, it’s not a lot, but I still often think of the worst ones and feel sad. I’m too soft for all of it, and I honestly don’t know why people think being mean will get them anywhere in life. :(

[BONUS] IN: not ending on a sad note hahaha

Sorry to get all glum on you right there at the end! I won't let it happen again.

So how about you? What’s on your in & out list for 2024?
