Newsletter #84: 7 Years of Imperfection!

Newsletter #84: 7 Years of Imperfection!

| Kyndra Bailey

We reached a fun milestone today: 7 years of newsletters! I should've been publishing these on the blog all along. Better late than never!

Well we’ve reached a fun lil milestone today: this email marks 7 years of newsletters. SEVEN!! 🥹

When I started this monthly newsletter in October 2019, I had one goal: to show up consistently one time per month, no matter how busy life was or what was going on in the KYBI realm.

At the time, I was overwhelmed by all the things I “should” be doing and was also seized up by the worry of “what if I annoy people?” A once-a-month newsletter was the perfect solution to those two internal struggles, and here we are seven years later! (Still overwhelmed, still fighting my worries – some things never change.)

I’ve certainly had my fair share of newsletters going out “late” and often wonder whether anyone even reads these in-full, but I’ve shown up time and time again, and I’m proud to be celebrating this milestone WITH you. (Because after all, if I send out a newsletter with no one to read it, does it make a sound?)

I spend so much time writing these that I realized this month I should've been publishing these on the blog all along. Better late than never! :)

From the Diary: Showing Up Imperfectly

There’s a KYBI sentiment I’ve been thinking about A LOT lately, especially in light of today’s milestone: showing up imperfectly is better than not showing up at all.

The business has been flipped on its head this year – a lot of it by my own making, and a lot of it by outside factors like the eCoNoMy and aLgOrItHmS. So much change at once has catapulted me into a place where I’m trapped with no escape: indecisiveness.

I’m no stranger to indecisiveness, but I’m usually pretty good at getting things done despite my indecision. This year, my inability to make decisions has left me with a constant weight on my shoulders, which in turn affects both my creativity and my ability to manage the business, which then has effects on sales and thus my livelihood, and well: we’re spiraling!

Of course, things have been Hard this year, and that alone is enough to justify my perpetual indecisiveness. The constant push/pull of 2026 has made smaller daily decisions much more heavy, so ignoring them until I can make the “right” decision is the easy route.

But spoiler alert: it’s also the wrong route! With every decision I don’t make, I can feel myself shrinking back to the perfectionist in me that existed circa 2014-2019: the version of myself that absolutely could NOT move on until things were perfect.

I’ve often joked about the fact that I’m a recovering perfectionist, and selling a sticker with an intentional misspelling was the ultimate sign of recovery for me, but truly: I’ve been “fighting my demons” this year!

Whether you can tell or not, please know that every time I show up this year, whether it’s here in your inbox, on social media, or in your mailbox, I’m doing so with the firm understanding that it’s not perfect.

“Could the subject line be better?” Probably! “Will this video flop?” Maybe! “Did I pick the ‘right’ color palette for this product?” Who knows! “Is this newsletter too long?” Always!

But I’m here, and that’s gotta count for something. :’) Cheers to showing up imperfectly!

ICYMI: The New Kid in Town

October 1 means it’s SPOOKY SEASON! If you haven’t had the chance to shop the new fall collection, there is so much spooky-goodness waiting for you in the shop!

October 2026 Report Card

Currently I'm…

Reading – Hollywood, Ending. One of my most anticipated reads of the year because, gosh, do I love John Green’s books!

Eating – more fruits and veggies. Keeping it simple with this one this month because I’m so bad about nourishing my body and I’m trying to change that! Do you have any tips/tricks for eating more fruits/veggies? I really like a lot of kinds – I just either never buy them or I buy them and forget to eat them.

Pressing play on – The Traitors. This is my newest reality TV fixation and I’m obsessed. I just got done watching season 4, but we’re also watching season 5 as it airs right now! (NBC & Peacock)

Obsessed with – reading all of YOUR reports from last month!!!! I’m so grateful to everyone who replied and shared what they’re up to. Please feel free to do that with me every month. (Seriously!)

Recommending –  this measuring spoon set. Our old set lowkey melted in the dishwasher (lol) but I loved the keyring they lived on because of how easy it was to pair them back up. I like this new set for how everything stays clipped together seamlessly!

Treating myself to – cozy nights in with Great British Bake Off. This is my ultimate comfort watch every fall and I can’t tell you how much joy I felt watching episode 1 last week. Mo is my winner pick, Gary is Trey’s!

Yay!
